VISION STATEMENT

We aim to reach out in worship and prayer, being rekindled and encouraged by the Father’s love in Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit.  We hope that we can be a true family of God trusting in Jesus to make us caring, happy, faithful, generous, and welcoming.

OUR VALUES

We aim to keep Jesus is at the heart of all that we do and are.  He is the reason that we exist and everything we do is for his glory. As a witness to Christ, the Bible is a trustworthy testimony to the work of God.  We seek to live under God's authority, in keeping with the truths expressed in Scripture as they have been interpreted and taught through the centuries.

We aim to be open to those around us, regardless of their situation or beliefs, sharing with them the love of God and the life-changing good news of Jesus Christ.  We hope that they will join us in following Jesus but recognise that this is a work of the Holy Spirit.

We aim to be a community characterised by love, gentleness, humility, integrity, generosity, delight and courage.  Our desire is to bring glory to God by learning to follow our heavenly Father and being more like Jesus through the work of the Holy Spirit.

OUR BELIEFS

The Apostles' Creed, which is used by many churches in declaring Christian faith, provides a summary of our beliefs:

I believe in God, the Father almighty;

creator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,

who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,

born of the Virgin Mary,

suffered under Pontius Pilate,

was crucified, died, and was buried;

he descended to the dead.

On the third day he rose again,

he ascended into heaven,

he is seated at the right hand of the Father;

and he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit,

the holy catholic Church,

the communion of saints,

the forgiveness of sins,

the resurrection of the body,

and the life everlasting.

The Church of Scotland's beliefs are declared in our constitution which is found here.
