SERVICES

We are all different and we all have different needs.  When it comes to worship, we want to help people relax and focus on God by creating an environment which they are comfortable with.  Some of our services are traditional which is great for those who enjoy the depth and poetry of worship others are more lively for the whole family which features modern worship songs.

Morning Worship services are held as follows:

10:00am - Brydekirk Church

11:15am - Annan: St. Andrew's Church

On the first Sunday of the month at St. Andrew's for morning worship we have an all age SALT Service (Sunday ALL Together) this is a more interactive family friendly service which features modern worship songs;
and on the same Sunday in the evening our Rest in God service at 6:30pm, is more reflective which consists of readings, prayers and Taize style music.

  • You don't need to bring anything – except yourself!

  • When you arrive at the door of the Church you will be welcomed by the steward and given any hymn books or handouts.

  • At Annan: St. Andrew's the real social stuff happens after the service over some light refreshments in the hall – please stay with us and give us the chance to get to know you, even if you are only visiting.

FAQ

  • What should I wear?

Our Churches are a place where you can come as you are, we are more concerned with people's hearts than what they are wearing.  There is no dress code, some wear suits other jeans and t-shirts.

  • What accessibility facilities do you have?

We have a small gravelled carpark within our grounds, there is a paved walkway between the Hall and Church entrance.  Murray Street public carpark adjacent to the Hall has 2 designated Blue Badge parking bays.

Like many historic buildings we have had to adapt ours as best we can.  The Church main entrance has two shallow steps we have an easily deployable ramp for wheelchairs.  Front pews either side of the chancel have been shortened to provide space for wheel chairs. Our Church Hall has an accessible toliet, this can only be acccess by  the outside Hall entrance.

  • What time should I show up?

Some folks turn up around half an hour before the service starts, so they can have some quiet time for private prayer.  The majority start arriving around 15 minutes before the service starts.  The doors will be open right up until the service starts, so don't worry if you are running late!

  • What happens during the service?

Morning Worship generally lasts 1 hour and includes songs, prayers, bible readings and a message.

At Annan: St. Andrew's the young people who have been undertaking seperate activities in the hall join for the final 15 minutes which includes a short children's talk and prayer.

  • What is the teaching like?

The teaching is uncompromisingly biblical, and we pray you will feel challenged.  I'm sure you know people who think the Bible is a largely irrelevant and from a bygone era, that it is out of touch with contemporary life and culture.  On the contrary, the Bible is our highest authority for faith and life.
We believe that, even today, God speaks to believers through His Word.  It has a lot to say about contemporary issues and can greatly benefit both us as individuals and our society as a whole.

  • What's the music like?

We use a mix of hymn, praise song styles.  Some are traditional other more contemporary.

  • What about prayer?

We are convinced that God still hears prayers and that things change when God's people pray.  Please give us the opportunity to pray for you, whatever your situation.  If you would like someone to pray with you or just to know that someone is praying for you please contact us.

  • Should I contribute to the offering?

As part of our worship service the offering plate is passed around.  As Christians we believe that all we have comes from God, and we also believe that how we use our money reflects the state of our hearts.  Financial giving, then, is an act of worship – our response to what God has done for us.  Many of our members nowadays give by regular bank transfer so simply pass the offering plate on.  If you are a visitor please do not feel embarrassed to pass on the plate without contributing.
